BLACK WOMAN TO RUN FOR BRAZILIAN PRESIDENCY

The former environment minister Marina Silva, will be the potential candidate bolstered by the Green Party for the 2010 Brazilian Presidential elections. The usual marginal Party gained international attention when its candidate Fernando Gabeira, almost took out the mayorship for Rio de Janeiro.

When discussing the possibility of her being the first black, female President of Brazil Silva said;

'Clinton was running against Barack Obama, a friend of mine said the US would have to choose between a woman and a black person, but if I was to be presidential candidate in Brazil we wouldn't have that problem, because I'm a woman and black...'
