AFRO LATINO'S SPEAK OUT

This one is for my fave Panamanian pimpette who constantly wrestles with her status as an Afro Latino. Here you go home gurl peep this video and find comfort in the fact that you're not the only one who feels the way you do...

The video is a response from Afro-Latino's who are addressing the fact that once again they have been left out from a documentary about the status of Latino's in America.

Some interesting points made in this video...

* The status of Latino's in America is never going to be the same as that of African Americans simply because in most cases the Latino Americans made the decision to leave their country and travel to the United States. African Americans on the other hand were forced to leave their mother land and to work as slaves in the U.S, a country that they had never even heard of and had absolutely no desire to be in.

* Some Afro-Latino's feel a disconnect from their ethnicity as Latino's because despite the fact that they speak the same language and eat the same foods they are still excluded from the concept of what it is to be Latino.

* The census forms... now this is a huge issue because their race is black however they are raised with in the Latin culture.
